Have you ever met someone who can wear jeans daily? No? I'm so glad to personally meet you because that describes me wholeheartedly. I love wearing jeans with chic tops, t-shirts, underneath dresses or basically with E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. I'm a fan of the skinny jeans or ripped jeans but I'm growing on the boyfriend style of jeans, more and more. I love fitted and lose fitting jeans. When I was an early teenager and was heavy into the tomboy look, I would rock baggy jeans (backwards like the rap duo, Kris Kross). Then I moved on to the boot cut style and here we are today.....if it's denim, I'm rocking it!
Here are a few tips that I use to finding the perfect pair of jeans:
First figure out what style of jeans do you prefer to wear. It can be one style or multiple styles, that's totally up to the fashionista in you and what look you're going for. I've found 25 different styles of jeans here that you can look at to help you decide. I personally love mid high rise jeans. I have wide hips as a skinny-thick gal, so these jeans are highly suggested for my body type. Who remembers that season when we wore all of our jeans cuffed???? Ok, I'm showing my age lol. But, the art of finding the perfect pair of jeans is first identifying the style(s) that you like.
Try on that style in the store. I know we all love the easy, breezy online shopping but, to save you the hassle of returning items, go to your local department store and try on several pair of jeans of that style and BOOM you know what you want to order online or buy it right there in the store. I shop at the thrift store as you know, if you've been following me. At thrift stores, you can get a great pair of jeans from about $4 up to $8........I'm talking name brands too. So imagine a kid at Disney World enjoying that tea cup ride......that's the level of excitement I feel when I'm in the thrift store shopping for jeans. I'm not exaggerating either!
Make sure the crotch area fits. Nothing looks weird than a nice pair of fitting jeans and the crotch area is too big. DISASTER! If you can grip the crotch area of the jeans, you should probably put them back unless the crotch area is supposed to be big and loose such as in the boyfriend pair of jeans.
You can't go wrong in buying a pair of stretched jeans. On those days when your stomach is bloated or you gained a few pounds from a week of eating unhealthy (we've all done it, don't be ashamed), that extra stretch in the waist area of a pair of jeans is so worth your weight gain blues. I love stretched skinny jeans to wear on the weekends for those quick grocery store runs or while grabbing a cup of coffee in the mornings.
Find a good tailor. No matter how hard we search, sometimes, we can't find that absolute perfect pair of jeans and having a good tailor on standby is great. I've bought the perfect pair of jeans that fit as far as length but the waist area was too big. So I take my jeans to a cleaners that has a tailor on duty and have them do any minor alterations that's needed on the jeans.
Jeans are meant to be fun, worn with a cute top or graphic tee and however you prefer to rock them and that makes you feel great in them. No matter your shape or preference of style, there's a perfect pair of jeans out there for you, you just have to have some patience in finding them.
