So I hear that today is National Relaxation Day. This is one area that I can be considered an expert in. I love relaxing at home doing NOTHING often. I enjoy being surrounded by books, magazines and my red wine of course. I'm a stickler for being in bed by 9pm nightly (sleep by 10pm) and rising early at 6:30am every morning. I believe in taking naps throughout the day even if it's for 15 minutes. Relaxation is so important for everyone, man or woman, child or teenagers. When you relax, your mind, body and spirit gets the proper rest it needs and you're able to refocus on the tasks ahead.

According to the dictionary, "Relaxation is the state of being free from tension and anxiety." Sometimes, just relaxing can take the edge off your anxieties than any medication that can be prescribed. When I relax, I put on my cold compress beaded mask to cool myself down and it helps with under eye puffiness. I keep this mask in the freezer after each use.

Reading is so relaxing to me. I don't always read to learn something, sometimes I'll read a fiction book and look through magazines for inspiration. My creativity gets going whenever I read magazines but I learned to not get too into being creative and just enjoy the articles that I'm reading at the time. If it's something pressing, I just write a note in my journal to revisit it at a later time.
If you're not a wine drinker, try relaxing with a cup of green tea or infused water. These are healthier options and can soothe you right into a state of calmness. Turn off the television or any other devices that can stress you out or become a distraction to you truly relaxing. If you want, you can listen to a spa playlist on YouTube or Pandora. I find that sounds with nature in them (rain, wind, fire, etc.) really helps me relax. I use this method when I can't sleep at night.
Today, please take 30 minutes and just relax, longer if you can. Unplug everything and tune everyone else in the world out, you deserve that! Go for a walk, take a nap or work on a craft that relaxes you. Clear that calendar of yours and relax all day if you need to but just make sure you do all that you can to get the proper rest that your mind, body and soul needs to rejuvenate, holistically.
How do you spend your time relaxing? Post your response in the comments.
Thanks for reading!!! I need to add jazz to my morning routine. Coffee is a must have if I'm expected to think on any given day lol.
I love the blog post. I usually use my mornings for relaxation time. I try to wake up early to have a little bit of me time. I listen to Jazz and read poetry with a cup of french vanilla Coffee. I also Journal.
Yes!!!! definitely find a moment (even if it's 10 minutes and do something for yourself). This may sound crazy but do something for yourself even if you have to wake up 15 minutes earlier to enjoy that moment for yourself. That will help you kickstart your day better or set aside time right before bed to do something for your day. Enjoy #nationalrelaxationday
Girl. I need to relax. Now that the school year has started, I need some uninterrupted time to just unwind. Just do whatever it is I feel like doing unrelated to working, blogging, or momming!!
